I like muddy chords though.
Damn good sound on little wing)
If someone had told me exactly this 50 years ago, the world would look different today :D
did you make that guitar yourself??
AHA! Eureka! I've been looking for this trick for years and here it is!!! A wise guitarist told me once about a chord shape that was the same chord when you moved it up the neck – this blew my mind but was over my head at the time and I've been looking for it ever since – its the diminished chord!! ( 1, flat 3 and flat 5). Now I just need to figure out where/how to put it in a song! Thanks so much for this! I have subscribed to your new guitar course as another thank you and hopefully teach me some more (btw, the Nashville Number course is fantastic!). I had a hard time playing the Eb dim so I applied the theory to the A dim chord – I already know "open" Am with flat 3 – so I just flatted the 5 and then could play the open A string as a drone as I moved the chord up the neck by minor thirds – magic! And your explanation about "stacked minor thirds" actually made the whole thing click! THANK YOU Rhett!
Amazing. Thanks.
This video has really helped me troubleshoot muddiness issues I was having with rhythm guitar/chords. I kept blaming it on tone/mix issues and was struggling to dial in the sound I wanted. Nah, I have just been playing rhythm electric guitar totally wrong 😅 Thanks Rhett for putting to words basic concepts that I don't grasp on my own. Your shared knowledge has truly improved by playing in so many ways I'm so stoked about it.
This is huge for me… thanks!
Rhett, I didn't get the heads-up….I didn't bring my notebook for this one. This is definitely going to my saved videos to watch it again, click pause, practice and repeat. I love rythm guitar! It just sets you in a different space. Thanks a lot for sharing. Very great lesson. I enjoy watching your videos. Thanks.
That’s good teachin Rhett.
This is incredibly helpful. Thank you so much for this, Rhett!
Cool
Penny needs her own channel!
Hey Rhett!
I'm not sure if you read the comments, but I wanted to thank you for all of the amazing videos that you make!
I'm a beginner guitar player, and you're a huge inspiration to me.
Even though it's probably gonna be wayyy over my head, I just signed up for your Fretboard Fundamentals course. I'm looking forward to taking it!
Thanks again for everything.
What you call "Major9" are in fact just sus2 chords, Major9 are a completely different thing: those chords have the formula 1, 3, 5, 7, 9. Even if you sneak in the major third in that Hendrix voicing it still wouldn't be called Major9 cause it doesn't have the 7, add9 would be the right way to call that.
This! This was great! Thank you! Keep this content coming!
What is the Tremolo effect you are using? It's soo good!
Wow, pleasantly surprised. Really! Great teaching style & level of difficulty does appeal to novice – advanced. Well done and will look at full course👍🎸🎼🎵🎶
More like stuck in a Rhett…
Always puts out helpful, intelligent, videos, you rock Brett!
3:47 can someone explain this chord shape? I cant figure it out. Maybe a chord tab or shape (i dont think its an A shape). Only the bottom 4 strings are being played
Have you done a video about fingerboard radius? I’d love to hear your take/preference, and know what your guitars have and what your go-to is. Does it matter? Etc. Something along those lines.
🐶
Novo's N looks an awful like an Anderson A
Gave a like for the doggo. Good boi.
@rhett is your course realistic a guide for players to get better around their playing up the neck? Scales, systems etc
Every guitar player should own some sort of keyboard I think and learn some chords and their functions, like Sus 2 and 4 chords etc. I think it helps you understand more.
No
Rhett I know you were kind of stuck in a rut a while back. I’m just here on behalf of everyone to let you know that you’ve never sounded better man. Well done!!
Great stuff Rhett. I always learn something from your videos so I want to thank you. Haha suddenly ZZ Top popped into my head…I thank you. Lol Man would you ever be open to talk about money and how you survived this pandemic without gigging etc? I was curious how musicians are surviving. Maybe rent is cheaper in Georgia? Or do you team up and stay with parents or family? Or are guys really surviving on YouTube vids? Sorry if I'm invading your privacy…not my intention. I'm just trying to survive. A video about this would be so helpful. I should have stayed with my parents until about 30 at least but I left at 18 and had no family in Cali so its been a bumpy ride and still is. Thanks if you do share.
Rut Shull
eh, I think the problem is more with how you have your tone dialed in with that guitar to be honest. those full chords don't have to sound muddy like that
Rhett’s channel is like Morty’s solo adventure.
Great stuff and readily usable! Tanx Rhett
Hey Rhett — I'm getting a certificate security error when trying to go to the new course. Hope to check it out soon.
9:10 what are the chords hes playing besides the Eb diminished? i want to learn this riff
Great info! My dog comes and lays in the room when I play and sometimes he changes my midi programs… he will press a button on the switcher and walk back and lay down…
Thanks so much Rhett for this video, I've been stuck in a rut for a long time now. The part of the video where your dog 🐕 came was really nice.
Super useful video. I actually didn’t realize how much of this I was doing just kinda naturally? Gonna send this to my cousin who is learning to play, he could learn a lot from you!
Good one Rhett. Thank you.
That guitar sounds as ugly as it looks !!Poor Hendrix all these hacks trying to play like him !
All I know is basic chords and major scale, I really surprised on how it brings me a long way. Basically I found these tips myself when I was noodling with basic chords + major scale.
